Painting
To give you a rough idea, here are three classifications as an example based on 1:200 scale metal models from the game Air Raid 36/46. Other models may differ from these examples in terms of effort and price.
Especially intricate camouflage patterns like German splinter camouflage, etc., can be very time-consuming to paint accurately and therefore naturally increase the price. The time required for masking for airbrushing, thorough cleaning of the equipment after applying paint, cutting and applying decals, etc., is often underestimated.
Even single-color areas can be quite time-consuming with color shading. Besides Air Raid models, I also paint other models, be it fantasy, science fiction like Warhammer, Warhammer 40k, etc. The larger a figure is, the more work it usually requires and the higher the price.
Please feel free to contact me so I can provide you with a realistic estimate based on your requirements.
Everything between the following examples is, of course, also possible upon request. Since I do painting as a side job, please allow more time for completion of larger projects.
If you commission multiple figures, I can offer a discount, as some work steps can be combined.
To clarify, here is a list of the tasks required to paint the 1:200 scale aircraft shown below in premium quality. This does not include cleaning the airbrush, which must be cleaned after every use, as primer and paints in particular quickly and heavily contaminate the gun.
1. Drill, adjust, bend, shorten, and glue (antennas, machine guns, etc.)
2. Prime (airbrush)
3. Apply base coat (airbrush)
4. Mask with masking tape for clean edges and transitions
5. Apply another base coat (airbrush)
6. Corrections (brush)
7. Paint camouflage (airbrush & brush)
8. Paint cockpit (brush)
9. Paint details such as propeller spirals, soot marks, etc. (brush)
10. Apply two coats of clear varnish as a base for decals (airbrush)
11. Cut out decals and apply them in the correct positions according to the template
12. Apply two coats of clear varnish to seal the decals and protect them from enamel wash and turpentine (airbrush)
13. Apply enamel wash
14. Remove enamel wash with a cotton swab and turpentine
15. Apply two to three coats of matte varnish (Airbrush)
16. Attach the base, adjust, sand, and glue
